Owonrin Meji (Èjì Òwọ̀nrín) is an Odù that teaches the importance of balance, moderation, patience, and spiritual perseverance. It reminds us that life’s circumstances are constantly changing and that scarcity can, through wisdom and proper conduct, be transformed into abundance.
Ifá teaches that every step taken in life should be guided by equilibrium. Excess and deficiency both create imbalance, while moderation allows blessings to flourish.
For those experiencing hardship, financial difficulty, or seasons of lack, Owonrin Meji offers a message of hope:
Do not surrender to despair.
Remain calm.
Practice patience.
Continue working with wisdom.
Seek spiritual guidance.
Trust that difficult seasons do not last forever.
Within the teachings of this Odù, honoring Ori and Ẹgbẹ́ through appropriate prayers and traditional spiritual practices is regarded as an important means of aligning oneself with destiny and inviting the blessings of Olódùmarè.
Ifá Verse
Owón owó là fi sáré lángbà lángbà kiri lálẹ̀dè Ìsálayé.
Scarcity of money causes a person to wander anxiously through the jungle of life, searching everywhere for help.
Owón aṣọ ni mú ní lákísà.
Scarcity of clothing leads one to wear rags and worn garments.
Àgbà tí kò lówó, a dé ẹni ṣepéré.
An elder without resources may lose influence and be overlooked by society.
A dífá fún Èjì Òwọ̀nrín,
Thus Ifá was consulted for Èjì Òwọ̀nrín,

The child of Ewi, the ruler of the sacred city of Ado.
Ẹ̀yí tí wọ́n ní ó lu alúyọ kúrò nínú òṣì, bọ sí inú ọlá.
He was foretold that he would break free from poverty and enter a life of honor, prosperity, and abundance.
Bọ sí inú ọrọ̀.
He would enter into great wealth.
Erúnmọ̀gálẹ̀, jẹ́ kí n lálúyọ.
Erúnmọ̀gálẹ̀, grant that I may rejoice in abundant blessings.
Kí ń gbé inú ọrọ̀, pítàn òṣì.
Let me live in prosperity, speaking of poverty only as a story from my past.
Kí n lu alúyọ kúrò nínú òṣì, bọ sí inú ọlá.
Let me break through from poverty into honor and prosperity.
Kí lówó lówó, kí l’ọlá, kí l’ọ̀rọ̀ báyìí Ifá.
Ifá, bless me with wealth, honor, prosperity, success, and lasting abundance.

The Teaching of Owonrin Meji
Owonrin Meji reminds us that poverty is not only measured by material possessions but can also appear as a poverty of hope, wisdom, discipline, or vision.
The Odù encourages us never to lose faith during difficult times.
Instead, we are called to cultivate:
- Patience (Sùúrù).
- Good character (Ìwà Pẹ̀lẹ́).
- Wisdom (Ọgbọ́n).
- Discipline.
- Gratitude.
- Steady effort.
- Spiritual devotion.
When these qualities are combined with sincere prayer and righteous action, today’s scarcity may become tomorrow’s abundance.
Ifá teaches that prosperity is not merely the accumulation of wealth but the harmonious balance of spiritual, emotional, physical, and material well-being.
True abundance is a life in which peace, wisdom, family, health, purpose, and prosperity exist together.
May Owonrin Meji remove scarcity from your life.
May your Ori guide you toward wise decisions.
May your Ẹgbẹ́ support the fulfillment of your destiny.
May Olódùmarè bless your hands with fruitful labor, your home with peace, and your path with lasting prosperity.
May the poverty of yesterday become only a distant memory as you walk into a future filled with honor, abundance, joy, and divine favor.
