Ose Meji (Èjì Òṣé) is an Odù that teaches that lasting victory is founded upon peace of mind, wisdom, good character, patience, sacrifice, prayer, and faithful devotion to Olódùmarè.

This sacred Odù reminds us that true prosperity is not created through haste, conflict, or dishonesty, but through spiritual discipline and righteous living.

According to Ifá, those who preserve their inner peace while remaining steadfast in wisdom and good character are better prepared to overcome life’s obstacles and receive enduring blessings.

For this reason, Ose Meji encourages us never to sacrifice our peace of mind for temporary gain.

Inner peace is itself a great blessing, and it becomes the foundation upon which future generations may also flourish.

Victory Through Divine Support

Ose Meji teaches that no challenge is greater than the combined power of wisdom, patience, prayer, and proper spiritual discipline.

During seasons of hardship, this Odù reminds us not to lose hope.

Instead, we are encouraged to strengthen our relationship with Olódùmarè through prayer, devotion, sacrifice (Ẹbọ), and good character.

Within many Ifá traditions, Ose Meji is associated with seeking divine support through Èṣù, Ṣàngó, Ori, Ẹgbẹ́, Òṣun (Yèyé Òṣun Ṣẹ̀gẹ̀yẹ́), and the guidance of Ifá, each honored according to their proper place within traditional practice.

Agba Meji

Another traditional name associated with this Odù is Agba Meji.

The title emphasizes maturity, wisdom, and the understanding that lasting prosperity belongs to those who cultivate patience, integrity, and spiritual balance.

Ifá Verse

Èsè Ifá lábẹ́ Odù Èjì Òṣé

Èjì Òṣé, awo Ajé, a dífá fún Ajé.

Èjì Òṣé, the diviner of Ajé, consulted Ifá for Ajé, the divine force associated with wealth and prosperity.

Wọ́n ní gbogbo ọmọ aráyé ni yóò máa wá Ajé kiri.

It was declared that people throughout the world would continually seek the blessings of wealth, progress, abundance, and prosperity.

Wọ́n ní kí Ajé rúbọ.

Ajé was advised to perform sacrifice.

Ajé gbọ́, ó sì rúbọ.

Ajé listened and faithfully performed the prescribed sacrifice.

Kẹ́pẹ́ kẹ́jìná, ọmọ aráyé bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí wá Ajé kiri.

Before long, people everywhere began seeking the blessings of Ajé.

Ire Ajé kí ó máa bò l’ọ́dọ̀ mi, ire Ajé.

May the blessings of Ajé come into my life. May I receive the blessings of wealth and prosperity.

Mo ti bọ Ajé, mo ti fi ẹ̀tùtù fún Ajé.

I have honored Ajé and offered the prescribed sacrifice. May the blessings of abundance now come to me.

Ire Ajé kí ó máa bò l’ọ́dọ̀ mi, ire Ajé.

May the blessings of wealth continually come into my life.

Mo fi ẹbọ l’Ẹgbẹ́ l’ọ́njẹ; mo bẹ̀wẹ̀ fún Ṣàngó.

I have offered the appropriate sacrifice to my Ẹgbẹ́ and made offerings to Ṣàngó. May they come to my aid and bless me abundantly.

Ire Ajé kí ó máa bò l’ọ́dọ̀ mi, ire Ajé.

May the blessings of Ajé—wealth, success, victory, and prosperity—continually come into my life.

Within Ifá, Ajé represents far more than money alone.

Ajé encompasses every form of wholesome abundance that sustains life, including:
