That is, Irosun on the right-hand side and Ogbe on the left-hand side of the Ifá tray.
Irosun Ogbe speaks of the importance of developing ourselves spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally so that we may connect with higher powers through the various divinities guiding and supporting our Ori.
Ifá sees the support of Olódùmarè through Yeye Ọ̀ṣun and Osu-Ifá as forces that can help us excel in the jungle of life.
The Odù teaches that before taking concrete steps that may significantly affect our lives, we should seek the face and guidance of Olódùmarè and hear from Ifá through Ọ̀pẹ̀lẹ̀, the Ifá divining chain.
We should not rush blindly into important undertakings.
Ifá teaches us to consult first, understand the spiritual implications of our intended actions, and perform whatever necessary spiritual steps—such as sacrifice, rituals and offerings—are prescribed before beginning an important endeavor.
According to this teaching, prosperity becomes more attainable when we listen carefully to the messages of Olódùmarè communicated through Ifá.
OVERCOME ILLUSION AND DELUSION
Irosun Ogbe warns us against allowing human illusion and delusion to control our decisions.
Human understanding alone may not always reveal everything surrounding a situation. Therefore, Ifá teaches us to combine our physical and intellectual efforts with spiritual wisdom and proper spiritual steps.
We should develop ourselves on every level:
Spiritually, through prayer, sacrifice, ritual, offerings and communion with the divine.
Mentally, through discipline, wisdom, focus and control of our thoughts.
Emotionally, through patience, stability and the ability to remain calm when circumstances become difficult.
Physically, through appropriate action, work, persistence and responsible effort.
When these dimensions of our being work together, we become better prepared to fulfill our destiny and attract monumental blessings into our lives and into our generations.
DO NOT GIVE UP BECAUSE THINGS ARE SLOW
Ifá says that things may appear slow at present.
A delay does not mean that our efforts are useless.
Irosun Ogbe therefore emphasizes consistency, persistence, endurance and spiritual discipline.
Continue.
Remain focused.
Remain patient.
Maintain good character.
Continue taking the appropriate spiritual and physical steps.
Consistency and persistence can change the trajectory of our lives.
Ifá teaches that discipline, when blended with good character and patience, can resolve even difficult challenges.
Do not allow temporary difficulties to destroy long-term spiritual discipline.
ESE IFÁ UNDER IROSUN OGBE
According to an Ifá verse under Odù Irosun Ogbe:
Ese Ifá lábẹ́ Odù Irosun Ogbe:
Irosun Ogbe (Irosu-Ogbe)
Awo Ifá a dífá fún Orisunmade ọmọ Ewi l’Ado
The Ifá diviner thus divined Ifá oracle for Orisunmade, the child of King Ewi, the lord of the sacred city of Ado.
Eyiti won ni ko rubo nitori aini ara re
He was advised to offer sacrifice because of his personal challenges, problems and lack.
O gbo riru ebo, o ru
He heard the instruction concerning sacrifice, and he offered the sacrifice.
Kepe kejina, Asunbi yipada o di Asunre
Without long, without delay, misfortune turned around and became great fortune and success.
Erigi Alo, so Asunbi di Asunre fun mi bayi Ifa lotu Isalaye.
Erigi Alo, transform misfortune into greatness, success and victory for me, oh Ifá, in the jungle of life.
THE CENTRAL TEACHING OF IROSUN OGBE
The message is clear:
Do not allow present difficulties to determine your future.
Develop yourself spiritually.
Strengthen your mind.
Control your emotions.
Take the necessary physical actions.
Consult Ifá before major undertakings.
Perform the prescribed spiritual steps.
Remain consistent.
Remain persistent.
Exercise patience.
Maintain good character.
What appears today as Asunbi—misfortune and difficulty—can be transformed into Asunre—fortune, success and victory.
May Olódùmarè guide our Ori.
May Yeye Ọ̀ṣun support us.
May Osu-Ifá illuminate our path.
May our consistency, patience, good character and spiritual discipline transform every Asunbi into Asunre.
Erigi Alo, so Asunbi di Asunre fun wa bayi Ifá lotu Isalaye.
Àṣẹ.
