Do not play the victim card. Assume responsibility for your life and take action.
This does not mean denying that genuine harm, injustice or spiritual opposition can occur. It means refusing to surrender your agency, your future and your destiny to what has happened. Whatever you have experienced, you must eventually decide what you will do next.
Some of us want to receive something without sacrificing anything. Yet progress and achievement require labour, sacrifice, mental strength, responsibility, dedication and decisive action.
There is always a price to pay for meaningful achievement. The question is whether you are prepared to pay that price through discipline, effort and responsible action.
Stop Blaming Others for Your Undoing
Too often, we blame others for circumstances created or worsened by our own conduct. We accuse people of bewitching us, harming us with charms, gossiping about us, criticising us or condemning us.
We become overwhelmed by small challenges. Instead of confronting them, we retreat into hiding and refuse to accept responsibility for our decisions.
Constant ranting, complaining and hatred towards others eventually make us feel bitter, burdened and unwell. When the mind is continually occupied with blame, it loses the strength required to search for solutions.
You may not control everything that happens around you, but you must take responsibility for your response. Responsibility returns power to your hands. It enables you to move beyond accusation and begin the work of transforming your life.
Do not remain trapped in the question, “Who did this to me?” Ask instead, “What can I do now?”
Focus on Your Mission and Vision
Develop the habit of focusing upon your mission and vision. Embrace the mind of God, which also manifests through the divine capacity of your own mind.
The Universal Mind can become personal when we learn to think correctly. The universal vibration receives our thoughts, missions and visions and begins to transform them into vivid reality.
Therefore, guard your mind carefully. Your dominant thoughts influence the direction of your actions, and repeated actions shape the course of your life.
Fill your mind with prayer, purpose, wisdom and constructive ambition. Refuse to allow gossip, criticism, condemnation or the opinions of narrow-minded people to distract you from your path.
A focused mind does not have time to remain trapped in unnecessary conflict. It is occupied with building, learning, working and transforming vision into reality.
Be Good Even to Those Who Oppose You
Be good to those who are mean, wicked or vile. Pray for those who provoke you.
Do not allow the conduct of others to determine the quality of your character. If another person chooses wickedness, you are not required to answer with wickedness. If someone carries bitterness, you do not have to give that bitterness a home within your own mind.
Remain in control of yourself. Work tirelessly with your hands. Move your body and your legs. Develop an ambition so great that you no longer concern yourself with what small-minded people say about you.
The energy spent answering every critic could be invested in building your destiny. The time wasted explaining yourself to people who misunderstand you could be used to improve your work, support your family and serve humanity.
Let your progress speak.
The Universe Responds in Its Own Season
No matter what you do to the universe, the universe does not rush to answer you. She understands that everything planted will be harvested at the appropriate time and season.
Every thought is a seed. Every word is a seed. Every habit, decision and action is a seed. The harvest may not appear immediately, but the law of consequences does not forget what has been planted.
Plant responsibility, and you will harvest strength.
Plant discipline, and you will harvest progress.
Plant wisdom, and you will harvest clarity.
Plant love, and you will harvest peace.
Plant meaningful work, and you will create the conditions for prosperity.
Assume greater responsibility and continue along the path of light, progress, health, wealth, prosperity, riches, happiness, joy and peace.
These blessings cannot be achieved without sacrifice, effort and responsibility. Every achievement and every form of progress carries a price.
An Idle Mind Becomes a Place of Destruction
An idle mind is the workshop of the devil.
Find something meaningful to do so that you do not have time to become absorbed in the complaints, criticism, condemnation and hatred of others.
When the mind is fully occupied with great and lofty goals, isolation becomes a blessing. Solitude becomes a productive habit filled with ambition, responsibility and the desire for greatness.
There is an important difference between empty isolation and purposeful solitude. Empty isolation creates room for bitterness, fear and destructive thoughts. Purposeful solitude gives you time to pray, think, learn, create, plan and work towards your goals.
Do not fear periods of solitude when they are guided by discipline and meaningful purpose. Use them to strengthen your mind and prepare yourself for the work ahead.
Find Something Meaningful to Do Now
Find something meaningful to do—now.
Do not waste your time in idleness, frivolity or empty desire. Desire without action creates frustration. Vision without discipline remains imagination. Prayer without responsible effort may leave opportunities unused.
The material world operates through:
- Time
- Responsibility
- Wisdom
- Sacrifice
- Dedication
- Focus
- Endurance
- Love
- Intelligent and diligent work
- Great ambition
Use your time and your life wisely. Avoid overindulgence and destructive vices. Do not wait endlessly for the perfect moment. Begin with what you possess, where you are and what you are capable of doing today.
Small responsible actions, repeated consistently, can create great changes.
You Are the Real Orisa
You are the real Orisa, carrying a special blessing and the responsibility to add value to the lives of others within creation.
Recognising your divine essence does not mean avoiding work or waiting for supernatural intervention. It means understanding that you possess the spiritual and mental capacity to participate consciously in the fulfilment of your destiny.
Your hands can work.
Your mind can think.
Your body can move.
Your character can improve.
Your decisions can change direction.
Your life can add value to creation.
Do not trouble the world or the universe so that the world does not bring greater trouble into your life and being.
Learn to be peaceful, wise and intelligent. Move quietly and discreetly towards your goals without creating unnecessary noise. You do not need to announce every plan or answer every provocation.
Conserve your energy and direct it towards meaningful achievement.
Awake from Your Slumber
Awake from your slumber and find something meaningful to do. Work towards the fulfilment of your goals within the jungle of life.
Do not merely complain—do something.
Good things and great goals are often difficult to achieve. They require patience, endurance, responsibility and sacrifice. By contrast, it is easy to become wayward, embrace vices and develop harmful habits, but their later consequences are tormenting, destructive and injurious to life.
The easy path is not always the peaceful path. What gives temporary pleasure may produce lasting pain, while what demands sacrifice today may create blessings for tomorrow.
Choose what strengthens your destiny.
Work with Your Mind and Your Hands
Embrace meaningful work. Live in harmony. Be peaceful. Forgive others. Focus upon your mission and vision. Support people and work quietly to manifest the greatest good for all.
Take control of your mind and fill it with prayer. Do not allow idleness or bitterness to dominate your inner life.
Do not wait for other people to rescue you from every difficulty. Do not waste your life responding to every critic. Do not make excuses for what discipline and action can change.
Work with your mind.
Work with your hands.
Move your body.
Use your time.
Accept responsibility.
Persist through challenges.
Continue towards your vision.
Work, work and work—with your mind and with your hands.
May Olodumare bless you today and bless you always.
Ase.
