OLÓDÙMARÈ — THE DIVINE PRESENCE WITHIN

Elédàá, Elémì and Olójò Òní

The traditional person may believe that Olódùmarè is a distant entity, dwelling far away in Ọ̀run, the heavenly realm. The wise and initiated soul, however, understands another dimension of Olódùmarè: Olódùmarè is also present within the mind, the mouth, the thoughts and the very being of the individual.

Olódùmarè is therefore not only to be sought somewhere far away.

His presence can be recognized within us.

He is present to hear our prayers, gratitude and obeisance. Yet, to perceive this divine presence clearly, the mind must be cultivated and filled with love, wisdom, understanding and peace.

THE POWER OF CALLING OLÓDÙMARÈ

Remember that simply calling the sacred name Olódùmarè, with sincerity and consciousness, signifies the lifting of the soul and mind toward the greatest level of blessings and fortune.

Olódùmarè represents profound greatness and the fullness of excellent attributes.

When the name Olódùmarè is called within one’s secret and inner life, accompanied by positive emotions, good feelings, gratitude and prayer, it induces supernatural blessings and profound spiritual power.

Within this teaching, your mouth and your mind can stir the force of Olódùmarè toward manifestation in your life and throughout your generations.

This is another reason why both the mind and mouth must be protected.

What occupies the mind matters.

What comes from the mouth matters.

The two become instruments through which we establish our relationship with divine power.

YOUR MIND BECOMES THE TERRAIN OF OLÓDÙMARÈ

Olódùmarè commands, acts, rules, induces, judges, performs and communicates.

His message does not come only through Ifá oracle or through the trance state.

According to this teaching, Olódùmarè can also speak secretly within us through the mind—particularly when the mind is strong, disciplined and at peace.

The purity, authority and understanding associated with Olódùmarè are vividly stamped upon the mind and expressed through the mouth.

Therefore, we must desist from vices that disturb the mind and prevent us from hearing, recognizing and understanding the cosmic messages of Olódùmarè within our lives.

A mind overwhelmed by uncontrolled anger, hatred, resentment, intoxication, fear or destructive thoughts becomes noisy.

A disciplined and peaceful mind becomes receptive.

Your mind becomes the terrain of Olódùmarè.

Therefore, take care of it.

OLÓDÙMARÈ AS ELÉDÀÁ — THE CREATOR

All divinities and deities were brought into being through His divine authority.

The work of creation, the creative power behind existence and the wisdom involved in forming the universe were under His divine supervision.

Everything within the cosmos ultimately owes its origin to Olódùmarè.

For this reason, Olódùmarè is called:

ELÉDÀÁ

Elédàá — the Creator.

The One from whom the creative principle of existence originates.

Creation itself becomes testimony to His wisdom, power and authority.

OLÓDÙMARÈ AS ELÉMÌ — THE GIVER OF SPIRIT AND LIFE

Olódùmarè also created the spirit within you and endowed it with abundant energy.

Therefore, another important name attributed to Olódùmarè is:

ELÉMÌ

Within this teaching, Elémì points toward Olódùmarè as the authority and source associated with Ẹ̀mí—the spirit, breath and life-force within the human being.

The life within us therefore becomes another manifestation through which we recognize divine creative power.

Your breath reminds you that you are alive.

Your spirit reminds you of your connection with existence.

And your consciousness gives you the opportunity to use that life meaningfully.

OLÓDÙMARÈ AND THE GIFT OF RAIN

Olódùmarè causes rain to descend, watering the Earth and providing water for living beings.

According to the traditional account, when the solid Earth plane was first created, the juice of trees initially served as a source of water. As creation developed, however, more water became necessary.

Òrìṣàálá therefore appealed to Olódùmarè.

Olódùmarè responded by sending rain.

This divine function is remembered in the Yoruba expression:

“Olódùmarè ni í máa fọ̀n eji ìwòrò-ìwòrò.”

That is:

“It is Olódùmarè who pours down the rain in regular flow.”

Rain therefore becomes more than an ordinary occurrence within this spiritual understanding. It reminds humanity of sustenance, renewal, fertility and the continuing support of creation.

OLÓDÙMARÈ AS OLÓJÒ ÒNÍ

Another profound name of Olódùmarè is:

OLÓJÒ ÒNÍ

Meaning:

“The Owner of this day.”

This name carries an important lesson.

Yesterday has passed.

Tomorrow has not yet arrived.

But today has been given to us.

Therefore, every day should begin with remembrance, prayer and gratitude to Olójò Òní—Olódùmarè, the Owner of this day.

Do not wait only for difficulties before remembering Olódùmarè.

Give gratitude when you wake.

Pray.

Guard your mind.

Guard your mouth.

Cultivate good character.

Use your life meaningfully.

Recognize the divine presence within creation and within your own being.

And ask that the Owner of the day guide what you think, what you speak and what you do throughout that day.

Olódùmarè is Elédàá — the Creator.

Olódùmarè is Elémì — the source and authority of life and spirit.

Olódùmarè is Olójò Òní — the Owner of this day.

May Olódùmarè Olójò Òní overwhelm you with infinite blessings.

May He strengthen your mind, guide your mouth and illuminate your being.

May His wisdom lead you toward victory, peace, prosperity and fulfilment of destiny today and forever.

Ìbà Olódùmarè.
Ìbà Elédàá.
Ìbà Elémì.
Ìbà Olójò Òní.

Àṣẹ.
