Otura Ogbe: Hope, Children and Ancestral Blessings

Otura Ogbe, also known as Otura-Gbe or Oturagbe, is represented by the following sacred Ifá pattern:

1------1
1------11
1-------1
1--------1

Under Otura Ogbe, Ifá teaches us never to lose hope because of past problems, present difficulties or future challenges. We must remain strong and focused while cultivating discipline, mental resilience and emotional equilibrium.

The difficulties of yesterday must not destroy our hope for tomorrow. Whatever challenges may confront us, Otura Ogbe reminds us that strength, sacrifice, spiritual wisdom and persistent action can lead us toward victory.

Do Not Allow Adversity to Define Your Story

Those who overcome adversity are the ones who live to tell the story of their victory. Prepare yourself to tell a good story after passing through tumultuous situations and difficult conditions that attempt to disturb your life or the wellbeing of future generations.

Life is a battlefield that requires preparation. However, the purpose of spiritual preparation is not to create constant conflict. It is to establish peace, good health, prosperity, joy, fortune and victory.

Ifá teaches us to prepare ourselves through:

  • mental strength and emotional balance;
  • prayer and spiritual discipline;
  • patience and good character;
  • sacrifice when properly prescribed;
  • responsible action and wise decisions;
  • care for our physical health; and
  • devotion to Ori, Egbe and our ancestral lineage.

Pregnancy and the Blessings of Children

Otura Ogbe speaks strongly about pregnancy, childbirth and the blessings that children can bring into a family.

According to this teaching, pregnant people may be advised through appropriate divination to make offerings to Ifá, Ori, Egbe, Ile and Ibeji. The spiritual intention is to seek protection, healthy children, family prosperity and sufficient resources to care for the children and the entire household.

The birth of a child may become a spiritual and material turning point, attracting joy, peace, motivation and new opportunities into the family.

Spiritual observances during pregnancy should complement—not replace—professional prenatal care, medical examinations and appropriate guidance from qualified healthcare providers.

Betrayal and the Wisdom to Move Forward

Otura Ogbe warns that people we regard as trusted friends or confidants may sometimes betray our expectations. Ifá advises us not to surrender our peace because of disappointment.

Betrayal may reveal the true character of others, but our response reveals our own character. We should learn from the experience, establish wise boundaries and continue moving forward with sound spiritual wisdom.

Do not allow the actions of another person to destroy your discipline, health or destiny.

Honouring the Ancestral Lineage

Otura Ogbe also speaks of sacrifice and devotion to the ancestral lineage. Egungun represents the continuing presence, memory and spiritual influence of those who came before us.

Through ancestral remembrance, good character and prescribed offerings, we seek victory, prosperity, longevity and protection—not only for ourselves but also for the generations coming after us.

Our conduct becomes part of the inheritance we leave behind. Therefore, the greatest ancestral offering includes living honourably, caring for the family and creating a legacy worthy of continuation.

Ẹsẹ Ifá Lábẹ́ Odu Otura Ogbe

Otura-Gbe, awo Ori, a difa fun Ori.

Otura Ogbe, the diviner of Ori, thus divined Ifá for Ori.

Eyi ti o tan ina ola, owo, oro, ola, idunnu ati aseyori gbogbo de omo,
Ati aromodomo lotu isalaye.

Ori was destined to light the lamp of wealth, riches, prosperity, happiness, success, progress, breakthroughs, joy and peace for his children and future generations at every level of existence.

Won ni ko karale, o jare; ebo ni ko yaa wa muse.

He was advised to remain calm and composed and to embrace sacrifice as a way out of his predicament and as a means of attracting blessings, success and victory at every level of life.

O gbo riru ebo, o ru.

He heard the instruction to offer sacrifice, and he performed the sacrifice.

Ori dele aye tan.

When Ori arrived in the world of matter—

O ri ire ola, o ri ire oro, ola, owo, emi gigun, ire aiku ati omo rere ti o kehin re lojo ti o ba rele ogbo.

He received abundant blessings of honour, wealth, prosperity, good health, longevity, joy and peace. He was also blessed with good children who would preserve and continue his worthy legacy after his departure.

Erigi Alo, jeki ire owo, ire oro, ire aseyori, ire omo, ire emi gigun ati ire ifokanbale bami bayi, Ifa.

Erigi Alo, let the blessings of wealth, riches, prosperity, victory, success, good children, longevity and peace of mind become my portion, oh Ifá.

Ifa ni eniti a da Odu Ifa yi fun,
Ki o lo mo bo Egbe, Ori, Egungun, Ile ati Orisa Oja, ki o le ni ire gbogbo.

Ifá says that the person for whom this Odu is divined should honour and make the prescribed offerings to Egbe, Ori, Egungun, Ile and Orisa Oja so that the person may attract complete blessings and great fortune.

Bi Ifa se wi niyen labe Odu Otura Ogbe.

This is the message of Ifá under Odu Otura Ogbe.

Ori dele aye, o ni ire gbogbo.
Ela Iwori, jeki ni ire gbogbo bayi, Ifa, lotu isalaye.

Ori arrived in the jungle of life with complete blessings and great fortune. Ela Iwori, let me attract infinite blessings, astonishing opportunities and profound fortune, oh Ifá, in the jungle of life.

The Central Teaching of Otura Ogbe

The message of Otura Ogbe is clear: never surrender your hope because of what happened in the past, what you are experiencing now or what may confront you in the future.

Remain calm, disciplined and spiritually focused. Honour your Ori, remember your heavenly companions and ancestral lineage, care for your children and protect the legacy that will continue after you.

Challenges may test you, but they do not have to define your final story. Let wisdom guide you, let sacrifice support you and let good character preserve the blessings attached to your destiny.

May Ori guide us.
May Egbe support us.
May Egungun protect our families.
May Ile sustain us.
May our children inherit wisdom, health and prosperity.
May Otura Ogbe open the way to victory, peace, longevity and complete blessings.

Àṣẹ.
