To complain, condemn and criticize is easy and comfortable. To learn, embrace good habits and practise patience is far more difficult. Personal growth can be frustrating, demanding and uncomfortable, but it is the path towards a meaningful and prosperous life.
What comes easily may disappear just as easily. Never settle for mediocrity or live without purpose. Focus on what you can do to improve your circumstances, develop your character and bring blessings into the lives of others.
Growth Requires Patient Effort
Planting a fruit tree and nurturing it to maturity requires hard work, dedication, determination and perseverance. The tree must be watered and protected before it can produce fruit. In the same way, every worthwhile goal must be cultivated patiently.
Success does not always appear immediately. There may be periods of frustration, discouragement, illness, misfortune and hardship. Nevertheless, those who remain disciplined and continue taking wise, practical and spiritual steps give themselves the greatest opportunity to overcome their difficulties.
Endurance does not mean remaining passive. It means continuing to pray, learn, work and improve yourself, even when visible results have not yet appeared.
Èmí Mi Ni Mo Ń Fi Jagun
“Èmí mi ni mo ń fi jagun.”
This means: “It is with my spirit that I fight,” or “I use my spirit to wage the battle.”
This is not a call to fight other people. It is a call to overcome the inner enemies of fear, doubt, anger, laziness, resentment and discouragement. Fight your way towards victory with spiritual wisdom, mental discipline, good character and responsible action.
The greatest battle is often the battle within. When you control your mind, words and reactions, the criticism of others loses its power over you.
Do Not Answer Every Critic
Never feel compelled to respond to everyone who yells at you, criticizes you, condemns you or expresses hatred towards you. Not every voice deserves your attention, and not every accusation requires an answer.
Protect your peace. Let your character, discipline and accomplishments speak for you. Use the energy that might have been wasted on arguments to build your life, strengthen your family and fulfil your destiny.
Silence is not always weakness. Sometimes, it is evidence of wisdom, self-control and spiritual maturity.
Ìwọ Ni Ìràwọ̀—You Are a Star
“Ìwọ ni ìràwọ̀.”
This means: “You are a star.”
Allow your light to shine through good character, patience, service, discipline and wisdom. A star does not argue with darkness—it simply shines.
Do not reduce your light because others fail to recognise it. Continue learning, working and growing. Support others and remain committed to your mission. Your consistency will eventually reveal what arguments cannot prove.
You are not here to complain about darkness. You are here to cultivate light, wisdom and goodness.
Èmí mi ni mo ń fi jagun.
It is with my spirit that I fight.
Ìwọ ni ìràwọ̀.
You are a star—let your light shine.
Àṣẹ.
