Remember that disconnecting yourself from the Source leads to spiritual dryness, suffering, lack, anger and stress. Such disconnection may eventually contribute to distortion, delusion, disease, doom and untimely death.
A life separated from its Source gradually loses the energy that nourishes, strengthens and directs it. Just as water depends upon its origin to continue flowing, human beings must remain connected to the divine and spiritual power from which life emerges.
According to the traditional saying:
“Odo to gbagbe orisun, o ma gbe ni.”
“Every river that forgets or disconnects from its source will eventually dry up.”
The river may not dry immediately. It may take seconds, minutes, days, months or years. Nevertheless, once the connection to its source is broken, the water can no longer be replenished.
This is also true of spiritual life.
The River Must Remember Its Source
A river remains alive because water continues to flow from its source. The river may travel through forests, villages, cities and distant lands, yet its strength depends upon the origin that continually nourishes it.
When the river forgets its source, it begins to lose its flow. Its waters diminish, its surroundings become dry and the life that depends upon it begins to suffer.
Human beings may also become spiritually dry when they forget their divine origin. They may continue to move through the physical world, but their lives gradually become burdened by anger, fear, confusion, stress and a deep sense of lack.
To remember the Source is to restore the flow of spiritual energy, wisdom, love and purpose.
The Child and the Umbilical Cord
A baby within the womb remains connected to its mother through the umbilical cord. This connection is essential for the baby’s nourishment, development and survival.
In the same way, the mother must not forget her own Source—the inner divine and spiritual life known as Cosmic Intelligence, Olódùmarè.
The physical umbilical cord connects the developing child to the mother. The spiritual cord connects every soul to the divine energy that sustains creation.
Human beings may become absorbed in work, family, wealth, relationships and material responsibilities. Yet beneath all these activities remains the need for a continuous connection to the inner divine life.
Without that connection, the individual may feel spiritually empty even when surrounded by physical possessions.
The Threefold Nature of Human Existence
A human being is composed of three sacred layers of life. Every person possesses a threefold nature—a trinity of existence, a tripod of life and a tripartite state of being.
These three states are:
- The divine state or divine spark
- The mental state or mind
- The material or physical state
Each state has its own purpose, but they must be properly coordinated. When they exist in conflict, life becomes confused and unbalanced. When they work together under divine wisdom, the individual becomes better prepared to receive blessings, fortune, miracles and favour.
The Divine State: The Sacred Power Within
The divine part of the human being is the most potent state of existence.
Within this state, the individual is greater than every challenge, fear, worry, obstacle or problem. It is the sacred power that connects human life to Olódùmarè and the greater cosmic intelligence pervading creation.
Yet people rarely connect consciously with this part of themselves. The divine state rests quietly and patiently within the human being. It does not create turbulence or force itself into manifestation.
It requires:
- Peace
- Harmony
- Love
- Serenity
- Spiritual awareness
- Inner stillness
The divine state is abstract, sacred and unseen. It cannot be touched or observed through the ordinary physical senses. For this reason, many people neglect it and focus only upon what they can see, hear, feel and possess.
However, invisibility does not mean absence. The divine spark remains within, waiting for the conditions through which its true existence can be revealed.
The Mental State: The Bridge Between Spirit and Matter
The second aspect of human existence is the mental state—the mind.
The mind is the thinking centre of the human being. It receives impressions, interprets experiences, creates ideas and influences decisions.
It is often easier for people to develop negative and destructive thoughts. Human beings are frequently inclined towards doubt, fear, worry, falsehood and anxiety.
Constant temptation, painful experiences and the surrounding environment can shape the mind to see only distortion, disease, death, doom and lack. When these impressions are repeated continuously, they begin to dominate perception.
The mind then expects difficulty, speaks of limitation and interprets every experience through fear.
Yet the mental state is also the bridge between the divine state and the material state. It can either connect the physical life to divine wisdom or separate the individual from the sacred power within.
What occupies the mind determines which influence becomes stronger.
When the mind is dominated by fear and material appearances, the divine spark remains hidden. When the mind is filled with prayer, wisdom, love and positive thought, it becomes a pathway through which spiritual power can enter physical life.
The Material State: The Physical Plane
The third aspect of human existence is the material or physical state.
This is the plane in which the soul searches for answers to physical problems. It is the world of sensory experience—the place where people see, touch, hear, speak, communicate and encounter what appears to be reality.
Human beings naturally place great trust in what they can observe through the senses. They often believe only what they see and repeatedly manifest what they feel and touch.
The material world therefore possesses a powerful influence over the mind. Visible difficulties may appear more real than invisible possibilities. Physical lack may appear stronger than spiritual abundance. Present circumstances may seem more powerful than the divine capacity for transformation.
The physical world is immediate and convincing, but it can also become a reality of illusion when it causes us to forget the unseen spiritual power underlying existence.
The material state should not dominate the divine and mental states. It should become the plane upon which divine wisdom and disciplined thought are translated into meaningful action.
Transform Your Mind into a Divine Centre
To transform your life, fill your mind with prayer and positive thoughts.
Transform your mind into a divine centre, a spiritual workplace and a sacred city. Fill it with prayer, wisdom and spiritual knowledge until material influences can no longer dominate your life or disconnect you from the divine Source.
The mind should not become an empty space in which fear, worry and destructive impressions move without resistance. It must become a disciplined spiritual environment.
Fill your mind with:
- Prayer
- Positive thoughts
- Divine wisdom
- Spiritual knowledge
- Love
- Peace
- Patience
- Faith
- Gratitude
- Constructive purpose
When the mind becomes a sacred centre, it strengthens the connection between the divine spark and the physical life.
Discipline Gives Access to the Divine State
The power to rely upon your divine state rests upon wisdom and the discipline required to control your mind.
Spiritual potential alone is not enough. The individual must learn to govern thought, redirect attention and resist the constant influence of fear, worry and material limitation.
The mind can become either a barrier or a bridge.
An uncontrolled mind separates the individual from inner peace and divine wisdom. A disciplined mind creates the conditions through which the sacred power within can manifest.
This is why prayer must become more than an occasional activity. Prayer should shape the mental environment and remind the individual continually of their connection to Olódùmarè.
Coordinate the Three States of Life
The divine, mental and material states should not work against one another.
The divine state provides spiritual power and direction. The mental state receives, interprets and focuses that power. The material state gives it physical expression through words, decisions, habits and actions.
When these three states are coordinated, the individual becomes prepared to receive blessings, fortune, miracles, wisdom and favour from Olódùmarè and His numerous divinities.
The divine spark must illuminate the mind. The mind must direct the physical life. The physical life must express the wisdom, character and purpose received from the divine Source.
This is the proper alignment of the tripod of life.
Let Your Mind Become a Source of Light
Fill your mind with prayer and transform it into a spiritual centre.
When your connection to the Source becomes strong, light, healing, love, wealth, abundance, health and miracles will fill your life and touch the lives of those around you.
A river connected to its source does not flow only for itself. It gives water to the land, nourishes plants, supports animals and sustains communities.
Likewise, a person connected to the divine Source does not receive blessings only for personal benefit. Their peace can calm others. Their wisdom can offer direction. Their love can restore hope. Their spiritual strength can help transform their surroundings.
Remain connected. Guard your mind. Coordinate the divine, mental and material states of your existence.
Do not allow the river of your life to become separated from its source.
Remember:
Iwo gangan l’Orisa.
You are the true divinity—but you must remain connected to your Source through divine wisdom.
Ase.
