Focus on What You Can Change

Do not worry endlessly about what you cannot control. Direct your attention toward the positive actions you can take to improve your life and bless future generations.

When we allow the opinions, gossip, criticism, confrontation, and condemnation of others to govern our decisions, we surrender authority over our own lives. Such behaviour reflects a lack of decisive spiritual wisdom—even when facing relatively minor challenges.

Our lives should be built upon a solid foundation of spiritual wisdom. That foundation must not entertain mediocrity, hopelessness, unhealthy comparison, gossip, laziness, or indolence.

Recognise What You Cannot Change

You cannot change every circumstance surrounding your life. You did not choose your country of birth, parents, siblings, ancestral lineage, or many of the conditions into which you entered the world.

You also cannot control every decision made by your children, relatives, friends, or people around you. However, you can influence them positively through your conduct, wisdom, patience, calmness, and love.

The essential question is not always, “Why did this happen to me?”

Ask instead:

“What can I do now to transform my life?”

You cannot command every event, but you can develop the wisdom to choose your response. You can decide how you think, speak, behave, and move forward. A disciplined response can transform a difficult circumstance into an opportunity for spiritual growth.

Build Character Before Building Success

Build good character before attempting to build a family, business, career, or public reputation.

A strong life cannot stand permanently upon a weak moral foundation. True success requires positive conduct, hard work, discipline, wisdom, patience, and the determination to overcome destructive habits.

If you desire a successful and meaningful future, you must be prepared to do what is necessary today. Focus upon the actions that can improve your present circumstances and create a life worthy of emulation.

Anyone who wants to eat well, remain strong, protect the body, and overcome personal limitations must embrace discipline and wisdom. Lasting improvement rarely appears without preparation, sacrifice, patience, and consistent effort.

A farmer plants today because he understands that tomorrow’s harvest depends upon the work performed in the present. He prepares the land, selects the seed, removes the weeds, and patiently waits for the proper season.

In the same way, your future abundance depends upon the thoughts, habits, decisions, and actions you cultivate today.

Every worthwhile harvest requires a price to be paid in advance through preparation, discipline, learning, service, and work.

Learn From the Past—Do Not Live There

Use the lessons of the past to improve your future. Do not remain imprisoned by previous pain, mistakes, disappointment, or resentment.

The past should become a teacher, not a permanent residence.

Learn from yesterday so that you can protect today and prepare for tomorrow. Do not allow old experiences to destroy your present peace or prevent your future success, happiness, prosperity, health, and fulfilment.

You may have inherited difficult circumstances, but you are not required to repeat every destructive pattern within your family or ancestral lineage.

Transform Destructive Family Patterns

If your parents or relatives embraced drunkenness, smoking, laziness, dishonesty, destructive sexual behaviour, or other harmful habits, learn from the consequences of their actions. Make the conscious decision not to repeat patterns that could damage your life and future generations.

This does not require publicly condemning, humiliating, or verbally attacking your parents. Dishonouring them before the world does not heal the family or correct the past.

Instead, pray for them, support positive change where possible, establish necessary boundaries, and allow their experiences to teach you how to build a wiser life. You can respect your parents without copying their destructive habits or accepting harmful behaviour.

When parents demonstrate discipline, good character, spiritual wisdom, honesty, patience, and responsibility, preserve those qualities. Improve upon the foundation they created and use it to add greater value to your family, community, and the universe.

Our responsibility is not merely to inherit the past. It is to refine what was good, correct what was destructive, and create a stronger foundation for those who will come after us.

Become the Example You Wish to See

You are a spiritual being who should not spend life condemning others. Teach through wisdom and lead through personal example.

Let people see discipline through your conduct.

Let them experience peace through your presence.

Let them recognise wisdom through your decisions.

Let them understand love through your treatment of others.

A true initiate should demonstrate how spiritual knowledge can create meaningful transformation. Your life should become evidence of the principles you teach.

Ìwọ gan-an l’Òrìṣà—you are the true divinity.

Therefore, learn to transform your mind, your mouth, and your conduct positively. Your thoughts direct your attention. Your words influence your environment. Your actions establish the road upon which your destiny travels.

Align these three powers with wisdom, patience, good character, discipline, and purposeful action. In doing so, you invite constructive spiritual energy into your life and surroundings.

Protect Your Dignity and Destiny

Avoid immorality and destructive conduct. When a great man or woman abandons discipline, dignity, and good character, that person may become controlled by appetite, impulse, and vice.

Do not surrender your humanity to uncontrolled desires.

Govern yourself before attempting to govern others. Correct your habits before condemning another person’s weaknesses. Build your character before demanding respect from the world.

Release what you cannot control. Transform what lies within your power. Learn from your family without repeating its destructive patterns. Honour the past without becoming trapped inside it.

Plant wisely today so that you and your future generations may enjoy a worthy harvest tomorrow.

Ìwọ gan-an l’Òrìṣà.
You are the true divinity.
