Honoring Ori, Orisa, Egbe Orun, and the Ancestors

One of the greatest spiritual investments you can make is to offer regular sacrifice and devotion to Ori—your personal spiritual essence, the inner divine consciousness, and the guiding destiny that dwells within your physical body (Ara). In Ifá, Ori is regarded as the first and closest spiritual guide, the foundation upon which every other blessing rests.

Alongside Ori, maintain a consistent relationship with your Orisa—your guiding divinity or guiding divinities. Depending on your Odu Amukosejaye (the birth Odu that accompanies your destiny), a person may have one or several Orisa who play important roles throughout life. Honoring them through prayer, offerings, and appropriate rituals strengthens the spiritual connection between the individual and the divine forces that guide their path.

Do not neglect Egbe Orun—your spiritual companions and soul extension in Gbale. Egbe exists as a spiritual community, offering collective support, guidance, protection, and blessings from the unseen world. Just as we benefit from strong communities on earth, our Egbe provides strength and encouragement from the spiritual realm.

Whenever possible, remember to honor and nourish your Egbe Orun, seeking their continued support, harmony, and guidance.

Likewise, never forget your ancestral lineage (Ara Orun/Egungun). From time to time, offer sincere prayers and appropriate sacrifices in gratitude for those who came before you. Honoring the ancestors acknowledges the foundation upon which our lives are built and invites their blessings, wisdom, and protection for ourselves and future generations.

For these sacred observances, it is beneficial to keep traditional spiritual materials in your home, including:

  • Obi (kola nut)
  • Orogbo (bitter kola)
  • Atare (alligator pepper)
  • Cowries (Owo Eyo)
  • Iyereosun
  • Ose Odu (traditional black soap), used for ritual cleansing before or after sacrifice.

These simple yet meaningful offerings and spiritual practices help maintain a living relationship with Ori, Orisa, Egbe Orun, and the ancestral lineage. Performed with sincerity, humility, and good character, they become expressions of gratitude, devotion, and alignment with divine wisdom.

May Ori bless your destiny.

May your Orisa guide your path.

May Egbe Orun strengthen and protect you.

May Ara Orun (Egungun) watch over you and your generations with wisdom, peace, and abundant blessings.
