Signature of Òkànràn Ogbè

Under the vibration and spiritual energy of Òkànràn Ogbè, Ifá speaks of the importance of making sacrifice to Ṣàngó and Orí to receive the infinite blessings of Olódùmarè and His numerous divinities—most especially Ṣàngó, Ọya, Orí and Ilẹ̀.

Ifá teaches that sacrifice attracts blessings, great fortune and harmony within marriage. Mutual respect, honour and devotion to shared family objectives will bring generational blessings and great fortune to a couple and their descendants.

Sacrifice to Ṣàngó and Ọya will help the person concerned overcome the power of enemies while opening the doors to limitless and infinite opportunities.

If the person for whom this Odù is revealed is searching for employment, Ifá says that he or she will find the right job. If the person owns a company or is engaged in business activities, he or she will attract infinite blessings of prosperity, profit and success.

Ifá says that sacrifice is essential for living a favourable, healthy and accomplished life worthy of emulation.

Ẹsẹ Ifá Under Òkànràn Ogbè

According to the Ifá verse under Òkànràn Ogbè:

Ese Ifa labe Odu Okanran Ogbe
(Okanran Sode):

Igi kan ki da loko
Ki o pa ara ile

A tree does not fall in the forest and kill a person in the town. The people in the town remain protected because of the great distance between them and the place where the tree has fallen.

Ewe ki jabo Lara igi,
Ko ni igi Lara

When a leaf falls from a tree, it causes the tree no pain.

A difa Olu-Ogodo
Ti nse omo bibi Oba Ibini

Thus was the Ifá oracle divined for Olu-Ogodo, who was the first-born son of the King of Ibini.

Oun lo lo bere lowo Ifa wipe:
Ogun ti oun nlo yi,
Se oun a le ja aja ye naa?

He went before Ifá to ask about the battle he was preparing to enter: would he be able to fight, win the war and return victorious?

Se oun a le bori ibi,
Ti oun ko ni ba ogun naa lo?

He asked further whether he would overcome the evil associated with the war, for he did not wish to lose his life in battle.

Won ni ko to lo s’ogun,
Ki o lo bo Ori,
Ki o lo ni agbo girisa
Ki o lo fi bo Sango
Ki o le segun

Ifá instructed him that, before going to war, he must propitiate Orí and obtain a large ram to offer to Ṣàngó so that he could prevail and emerge victorious in battle.

Aye Ogun

War is the world, and the world is a state of war.

O gbo riru ebo,
O run
O lo s’ogun,
O segun niwaju
O segun lehin

He heard the instruction to offer sacrifice, and he performed the sacrifice. He went to war and conquered the enemies before him; he also prevailed over the misfortune behind him.

Ki ni Sango fi segun ota lotu isalaye,
Ti o fi rehin odi?

What did Ṣàngó use to overcome his enemies in the physical world and prevail over adversity?

Igba ota ni Arira fi segun ota
Igba ota ni Arira fi sete wole

Two hundred thunderstones were what Arira used to overcome the enemies. Two hundred thunderstones were what the great deity Ṣàngó used to defeat the adversaries.

Two hundred thunderstones.

Erigi Alo,
Jeki rehin ota mi bayi

Erigi Alo, let me now overcome all my enemies.

Ifa ni eniti a da Odu yi fun,
Yio bori ogun
Yio rehin odi

Ifá says that the person for whom this Odù is divined will prevail over enemies and overcome adversaries.

Labe Odu Okanran t’oun ti Ogbe

This is the message of Ifá under the Odù Òkànràn together with Ogbè—that is, ÒKÀNRÀN OGBÈ.

The Central Teaching of Òkànràn Ogbè

The message of Òkànràn Ogbè is that challenges can be overcome through proper spiritual guidance, obedience and sacrifice. Olu-Ogodo did not enter the battle relying only upon his physical strength. He first consulted Ifá, followed the divine instructions, propitiated Orí and made the prescribed offering to Ṣàngó.

Because he listened and performed the sacrifice, he conquered what stood before him and overcame the misfortune that followed behind him.

The battle described in this verse may appear in different forms within human life. A person may be confronting opposition, searching for employment, building a business, protecting a marriage or seeking prosperity and stability for the family. Under this Odù, Ifá emphasises sacrifice, spiritual alignment, mutual respect and devotion to worthy objectives.

Through obedience to Ifá and the appropriate sacrifices to Ṣàngó, Ọya and Orí, the doors of opportunity may be opened, adversaries may be overcome and the individual may advance towards prosperity, harmony, victory and fulfilment.

May Olódùmarè and His numerous divinities grant us the wisdom to hear divine instruction, the discipline to follow it and the blessings that arise from proper spiritual alignment.
